One Settings control unlocks the Discount Badge and Margin Guard checkout tools together. This is not enabled at install: it is optional and requires your explicit approval.
Note: There is no separate "enable Badge" or "enable Margin Guard" button. If Badge or checkout says "Not enabled", complete Additional store features in Settings first.
CodeRally needs extra Shopify permissions for both features. Shopify's progressive permission rules work best when we ask once, not on every feature separately. Everything lives on the Additional store features card at the bottom of Settings.
| Feature | What works |
|---|---|
| Discount Badge | Configure product/collection blocks; metafield sync for live offer display on storefront |
| Write product/variant data | Badge display data on products; Sync costs to checkout for Scale enforcement |
| Read themes | Deep links into your theme editor to place app blocks |
| Cart validations | Block checkout mode when margin would fall below floor |
| Checkout discount functions | Auto-cap CodeRally automatic discounts at checkout |
Already at install (no extra step): read orders, read products, write discounts: enough for AI promos, analytics, and creating discounts.
| Shopify permission | CodeRally uses it for |
|---|---|
| Write products | Discount Badge display data on products; pushing unit costs to variants for checkout margin math |
| Read themes | Opening your theme with the correct app block selected |
| Read/Write validations | Installing and running Margin Guard checkout validation (block mode) |
Click Disable additional features on the same card. Badge display updates and checkout cap/block stop until you enable again. Discounts already in Shopify remain until you delete them in Shopify Admin.
